Distressed Denim Care Guide

Distressed Denim Care Guide

Every pair of URBANDEL distressed denim is built with intentional detail — hand-cut rips, raw seams, heavy distressed edging, and paint-splatter accents. Here's how to keep them looking exactly the way they should.

Will the rips and shredding get worse over time?

Intentional distressing — including hand-cut rips, shredded panels, and heavy distressed edging — is built into the construction of each pair. With proper care, the damage won't significantly worsen. Natural variations in fraying and fading are part of the design and make each pair unique. Avoid excessive pulling on raw distressed seams, which can accelerate wear beyond the intended look.

How should I wash my distressed denim?

Machine wash cold, inside out, with like colors. Use a mild detergent. Washing inside out protects the outer surface, preserves the wash finish, and reduces friction on distressed panels.

Can I bleach my denim to refresh the color?

No. Bleach will damage the stretch construction and break down the wash finish — including ice-wash, deep-black, and washed-black colorways. Do not bleach.

How should I dry my distressed denim?

Air dry is always recommended. It extends the life of stretch denim and prevents shrinkage that can affect the stacked fit. Tumble dry low is acceptable if needed — but never high heat.

Can I iron my distressed jeans?

Do not iron directly over distressed panels, raw seams, shredded details, branded hardware, or custom metal buttons. If pressing is needed, turn inside out and avoid all structural detail areas.

What about the raw edges and exposed seams?

Raw-cut hems and exposed seam detailing are intentional design features. Handle with care — avoid excessive pulling or snagging. Some natural evolution of fraying at raw edges is expected and part of the aesthetic.

Do all pairs look identical?

No — and that's intentional. Hand-distressed rips, paint-splatter accents, vintage fading, and natural wash variations mean no two pairs are exactly alike. Each pair is unique by design.
